A very popular dish on the Balearic islands is the “paella”. Though it originally comes from Valencia, the paella has become an inherent part of Spanish tradition and family cuisine. Usually on Sundays different generations of the same family get together to cook the big paella in the big pan: The „Paellero“. The great news is, that every Spanish family believes they prepare the best Paella in Spain. That´s why you will also enjoy the best Paella in Spain the day you and your guests join the famous Alaiar Paella Cook Off:
Guests are greeted with a wine tasting in the garden. Under the courteous and competent guidance of our cook they learn to prepare the famous Spanish Paella and the typical Mallorcan Trampo salad. One or two big Paella-pans are gradually filled by chef cooks (chosen amongst the guests) with the ingredients that have been prepared by the guests themselves. While the beautiful aromas of the Paellas start filling the air, appetites are whetted with Alioli, fresh bread and olives. The Paella is followed by a home- made seasonal Mallorcan dessert, served with a shot of Hierbas (the Mallorcan Herbal liqueur) and coffee.
Also possible: Paella cooking contest with competing teams.
